Top Recommended YouTube Videos

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

While I'm still looking for my CD which I'm going to use for the remaining album reviews, here's a quick list of my top recommended YouTube videos.

It's in no particular order which means it's not arranged according to rankings unlike in lists being done by other blogs which is usually in countdown format. What's important is for me to give to you guys, and as well as myself, a freakin' rocking show courtesy of YouTube!

The List

Links/Resources

Those aren't the only videos that I've got. There's more from where that came from. Asides from directly streaming the videos from YouTube, there's another cool way to watch and even download those YouTube videos. How, do you think, did I manage to watch such great amount of videos from our home computer that only has a dial-up connection? The answer...

TechCrunch's YouTube Video Download Tool! It usually costs me Php 20 for computer rentals which has high speed DSL connection but it's worth it. Within an our, I can download more or less than 10 YouTube videos, of course, without goofing around. Then, the next thing I would do is load them in my flash drive, take it home, and watch it with...

VLC player. As many of its users claim, it can play almost all video file formats including .FLV (Flash Live Video) files (which is a file format that is used for delivering downloaded YouTube videos, etc). And what's better is, it's free to download with no strings attached!

Defending The Rock Music Scene

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Let’s postpone the remaining album reviews for a while. I lost the C.D. so I can’t really review the album without me listening to it while writing. While I'm on it, would you mind giving me some of your time? This, is somehow related to rock albums and how different people form different walks of life, specially KJV (King James Version, a holy bible version) purists see this little piece of genre.

Well, you know me, I’m a kickass-headbang-rock-n-pop-geek-nerd-dork-hardcore-drummer dude and obviously, I know enough about what’s going on within the modern rock music scene. But what caught my attention was a comic book that was published years before I was born, 1978. It was published by the same comic book publisher, that I was talking about in a previous post, called J. T. Chick Publications.

I remembered how I’ve been constantly agreeing and believing with what J.T.C. had to say though those comic books. The lies Satan used to deceive millions or even billions of people around the world. I mean, who would have known that the Pope is that guy in Revelation chapter 6 that the Holy Bible was talking about! Excuse me for my Roman Catholic friends but, I’m almost buying this stuff. Although, I’m not completely sold to everything this controversial publication had to say because those things are yet to happen. Sorry if this offended you.

There were so many attacks that this great publication made through their awesome comic books with writers from places you’d never believe would come from. You name it! From a Jesuit associated to Vatican to a former occult member! All of these sorts of guys turned their back from these evil doings and joined J.T.C. in exposing the things that the world needs to know as soon as possible!

Back in those years where the Beetles were as hot as pancakes, when and the rock-n-roll scene was all over vinyl/cassette record bars and it was storming hits through the retro radio airwaves, rock music did not escape the skeptical eyes of the KJV purist, J.T.C Publications.

They started by saying that a certain type of addictive beat was somewhat used by the occult to call evil spirits and would later on be used in an opening concert by an oldie rock band which was the reason they gathered many fans from around the globe.

Then, they continued by somehow saying that rock music, as a whole, is of the devil and it should not be listened to by people. Until this very day, KJV purists strongly oppose rock music.

They furthermore accused rock music, again as a whole, for being a cause of the ineffectiveness of churches, in evangelism, whom listened to, according to them: “so-called Christian rock.” Still, they believe that Christian rock was in no exception of the said occult beat.

For references, see this and this.

Hey! Wait a second! Now that’s when they started to cross the line! I’m a Christian rock musician over here! Come on!

I would like to raise some few points here.

I think J.T.C. is over reacting here. This issue can be dealt with within less than a month without touching the whole rock community. If their problem was the occult beat, it can be easily omitted. They’re making a big deal out of this worthless occult beat! So what? Destroy and condemn the beat! Rebuke it in the name of Christ but not the whole rock scene!

Then, there’s this thing about the ineffectiveness of churches and its pastors in evangelism just because they listened to these Christian rock records still containing the occult beats. They say that Christian rock is no different with the worldly satanic rock that they know.

Yeah right! Try telling that to Hillsong United, J.T.C! And count all the young people that are turning to Jesus Christ every day! You’ll be shocked too!

That proves it! It isn’t the rock music that’s the problem, KJV guys. It’s that beat that got lost somewhere. As I’ve learned from the bible through J.T.C’s publications, everything is created by God. So that’s why everything that was said to be occult was not originally theirs! Satan destroyed and perverted those beautiful works, as J.T.C. was pointing out, and turned those things in to something ugly to glorify himself and deceive people.

Those were in the oldies anyway. I’m sure the said occult beat was long gone because it’s not in the musical trend anymore. Today, the fight the fight should be on the lyrics that make up rock music. Why not leave the stupid genre debate and focus on the words that are sung with all types of music, the factors that inspired the song writer or the background of the artist perhaps. Like my dad would say: making music is easy if you know how but what’s more serious, when it comes to composing a song, is with the lyrics that come from you heart and mind to complete the song. It must be with a message that’s something worth listening to, a message that’s something worth telling others. And this, my beloved KJV brothers is what I think we should focus on.

Men! Musicians! We’re bringing them back to the Lord! We’re bringing each and every genre back to the Lord! It’s his not ours and surely, not Satan’s!

Triple Threat Album Review

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Hey guys! As part of the changes that I’ve been making with this blog, I’d like to introduce to you the “reviews” segment. Basically, it’s the segment where I do reviews. Reviews of what? Anything! Anything that’s of my interest. Whether that maybe geek gadgets, a new web app or even a website – anything that can be reviewed.

For this review, I’d like to focus on 3 of my collection of rock albums. Namely, these are Fall Out Boy’s Infinity on High, Panic! At The Disco’s A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out and P.O.D.’s When Angels and Serpents Dance. All of them are in full track and certified rock.

I know it’s pretty late to make such reviews, specially on the two out of the three albums that I mentioned, now that Fall Out Boy had released their new Live in Phoenix DVD and so did Panic! At The Disco with their Pretty. Odd. album.

But, whatever! It does not matter to me. As long as I get these things off my head, we’re all happy ok?

Infinity on High

Artist: Fall Out Boy with Patrick on vocals and rhythm guitar; Pete on bass, second vocals and screamer; Joe on lead guitar; and finally, Andy on Drums.
Release Date: 2007; 2/5-6, 8/28, 9/7, 11/20 under Fueled by Ramen Records/Island Records/Mercury Records.
Total Album length: 47:51 mins
# Of Tracks: 14 + 2 bonuses
Official Website: http://falloutboyrock.com

The Cover Artwork

I think it was inspired by fairy tales, fantasy and such. As in, a kid’s room full of imagination and such. Not much of a rock CD cover. It is eye catching and intricate enough for a buyer to check out what’s inside. You know, because it’s like a kid’s room with lots of musical mysteries in it.

The Tracks

A quick review of the awesome songs (pros) and the not so awesome ones (cons).

Pros (The Gold in The Gold Mine)

  • Thriller, a fantastic intro and it could spark a couple of headbangs;
  • Arms Race, a carrier single;
  • Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, which is another great song and a yet another carrier single;
  • Hum Hallelujah, good intro and good riff;
  • The (After) Life of the Party, dramatic chorus;
  • Bang The Doldrums, good beat and liked how they played with their notes;
  • You’re Crashing, But No Wave, the gothic chorale is a notable part of the song;
  • Take’s Over, nice vocal blending ;
  • Fame < Infamy, I can dance with it!

Cons (A Little Off. Sorry Guys!)

Most of them have very remarkable intros and others have some wonderful overdriven riffs but they were somehow inadequate and hard to get.

  • Me and You
  • Golden
  • Don’t You Know Who I think I am
  • The Carpal Tunnel of Love
  • I’ve Got This All Ringing In My Ears And None On My Fingers

Rating (out of 10): 6/10

Hillsong United in Manila '08

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

You heard it right! The awesome rocking praise and worship band that is Hillsong United will be setting their feet on Philippine grounds and will be heading in to Araneta Coliseum this May 26! This will not be your average worship event which usually went with yawn-impulsing hymnals and slow rhythm. This, my friend, will be the next-level worship event of your youth life!

To give you a little background on what the heck this Hillsong United mumbo-jumbo is; basically, it's a Christian youth band. It was also the same group behind the song, One Way which has been sung by various church groups and artists in different versions around the globe.

There's also a misconception between the Hillsong and Hillsong United. From my understanding, Hillsong is like this big Christian group of different ages that support Hillsong United which is somewhat under the Hillsong family. It's confusing. But what's important is all of those whom already bought tickets, no matter what seat your pretty expensive ticket indicates, we're going to have the time of our life listening to what God has in store for us young people specially in the music ministry.

My mom already bought our tickets from a TicketNet outlet in SM San Lazaro (a mall). Along with my dad and Praise, my sister, we'll be marching early in to the venue to get the best seats a free-seating General Admission ticket could offer. The concert starts at 8PM, I'm proposing that we drive there as early as 7PM. Our pocket money of Php 600 is ready as well, thanks to our auntie. We're going to need that sort of amount because theres a 100% price increase of foods and beverages when you buy them fresh inside the coliseum. Which could mean, if a jumbo hotdog sandwich is worth Php 25.00 outside the coliseum, inside, it will be worth Php 50.00 - that's how cruel the guys behind the big dome are!

We people never have enough money talk for one day specially if you are planning to buy tickets for the show. Ticket price starts at Php 291 and then 465, 698, 930 and finally Php 1,162 for the best seats available in the venue. We did try to make a reservation first before purchasing the tickets but unfortunately, reservations are now closed. So if you're thinking of buying, do it ASAP! No one's going to wait for you.

For some conservative and practical Christians out there who do not really like the idea of fusing a rock sort of concert with a worship event, try this and maybe after the show, you'll be screaming "JESUS ROCKS!" all night! Yes, this is rocking for the glory of God! In your face satanic gays!

If you'd like to know more about the concert, here are some links to get you all fueled for the show.

See you there guys! Truly that you answer prayers no matter how big or small! Trivia: This will be our first ever live concert attendance!

The "God Bless Israel" Experience

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Finally! An another Araneta Coliseum experience! It's been a while since I last watched a show that was held in "The Big Dome." If I'm not mistaken, I think the title of the show was "Beauty and The Beast: Disney on Ice."

This event that happened last May 5 was also held at the coliseum. It was called "God Bless Israel." Basically it's just a celebration of that sweet 60 years that Israel has been through together as an independent Jewish state which I think, has been in effect just years after the Jewish holocaust.

I was wondering why should we attend this event anyway. I'm a pure-blooded Filipino and I'm in no way related to Israel nor the Jewish people. So why should I celebrate their anniversary in the first place? But, apparently, according to my parents I am in someway related to the Jewish people. Why? Because I'm a Christian and Jesus Christ had and is still having a very intimate relationship with Israel and as well as the Jewish people themselves. And not only do Christians have that kind of relationship with the Jewish people but so does the Philippines as a country.

The Filipino-Jewish relationship is very remarkable considering that the Philippines was the only Asian country who voted in favor of a Jewish state in a UN conference which was held sometime around 1948. The result was a cliff hanger (according to some people in the coliseum) and then it was up to the Philippines, the last country yet to decide where its crucial vote would go in favor of. Bottom line, we saved the Jewish people's butt from not having their own state that they are now calling "their own."

Here are some photos of me inside and outside the venue.
