Let’s postpone the remaining album reviews for a while. I lost the C.D. so I can’t really review the album without me listening to it while writing. While I'm on it, would you mind giving me some of your time? This, is somehow related to rock albums and how different people form different walks of life, specially KJV (King James Version, a holy bible version) purists see this little piece of genre.
Well, you know me, I’m a kickass-headbang-rock-n-pop-geek-nerd-dork-hardcore-drummer dude and obviously, I know enough about what’s going on within the modern rock music scene. But what caught my attention was a comic book that was published years before I was born, 1978. It was published by the same comic book publisher, that I was talking about in a previous post, called J. T. Chick Publications.
I remembered how I’ve been constantly agreeing and believing with what J.T.C. had to say though those comic books. The lies Satan used to deceive millions or even billions of people around the world. I mean, who would have known that the Pope is that guy in Revelation chapter 6 that the Holy Bible was talking about! Excuse me for my Roman Catholic friends but, I’m almost buying this stuff. Although, I’m not completely sold to everything this controversial publication had to say because those things are yet to happen. Sorry if this offended you.
There were so many attacks that this great publication made through their awesome comic books with writers from places you’d never believe would come from. You name it! From a Jesuit associated to Vatican to a former occult member! All of these sorts of guys turned their back from these evil doings and joined J.T.C. in exposing the things that the world needs to know as soon as possible!
Back in those years where the Beetles were as hot as pancakes, when and the rock-n-roll scene was all over vinyl/cassette record bars and it was storming hits through the retro radio airwaves, rock music did not escape the skeptical eyes of the KJV purist, J.T.C Publications.
They started by saying that a certain type of addictive beat was somewhat used by the occult to call evil spirits and would later on be used in an opening concert by an oldie rock band which was the reason they gathered many fans from around the globe.
Then, they continued by somehow saying that rock music, as a whole, is of the devil and it should not be listened to by people. Until this very day, KJV purists strongly oppose rock music.
They furthermore accused rock music, again as a whole, for being a cause of the ineffectiveness of churches, in evangelism, whom listened to, according to them: “so-called Christian rock.” Still, they believe that Christian rock was in no exception of the said occult beat.
For references, see this and this.
Hey! Wait a second! Now that’s when they started to cross the line! I’m a Christian rock musician over here! Come on!
I would like to raise some few points here.
I think J.T.C. is over reacting here. This issue can be dealt with within less than a month without touching the whole rock community. If their problem was the occult beat, it can be easily omitted. They’re making a big deal out of this worthless occult beat! So what? Destroy and condemn the beat! Rebuke it in the name of Christ but not the whole rock scene!
Then, there’s this thing about the ineffectiveness of churches and its pastors in evangelism just because they listened to these Christian rock records still containing the occult beats. They say that Christian rock is no different with the worldly satanic rock that they know.
Yeah right! Try telling that to Hillsong United, J.T.C! And count all the young people that are turning to Jesus Christ every day! You’ll be shocked too!
That proves it! It isn’t the rock music that’s the problem, KJV guys. It’s that beat that got lost somewhere. As I’ve learned from the bible through J.T.C’s publications, everything is created by God. So that’s why everything that was said to be occult was not originally theirs! Satan destroyed and perverted those beautiful works, as J.T.C. was pointing out, and turned those things in to something ugly to glorify himself and deceive people.
Those were in the oldies anyway. I’m sure the said occult beat was long gone because it’s not in the musical trend anymore. Today, the fight the fight should be on the lyrics that make up rock music. Why not leave the stupid genre debate and focus on the words that are sung with all types of music, the factors that inspired the song writer or the background of the artist perhaps. Like my dad would say: making music is easy if you know how but what’s more serious, when it comes to composing a song, is with the lyrics that come from you heart and mind to complete the song. It must be with a message that’s something worth listening to, a message that’s something worth telling others. And this, my beloved KJV brothers is what I think we should focus on.
Men! Musicians! We’re bringing them back to the Lord! We’re bringing each and every genre back to the Lord! It’s his not ours and surely, not Satan’s!
